Today is the 50th anniversary of International Literacy Day, a global holiday that exists to raise awareness for increased accessibility to education in developing countries. 758 million adults remain illiterate. However, global literacy rates have grown steadily over the past 50 years, especially in youth. There is room for improvement, but much to celebrate. Together, we are reading the past, and writing our future.
